First responders are often confronted with motor vehicle crashes in low visibility conditions. On January 9, 2008, Polk County, Florida, responders were confronted with a worst case scenario as 70 vehicles collided in zero-visibility conditions along a heavily traveled interstate highway. The lessons learned in Polk County will benefit responders nationwide who may face similar situations in their jurisdictions
